On 15 May 1961 General Electric's Missile and Space Vehicle Department (MSVD) delivered the report of a feasibility study under contract to NASA. MSVD's proposed Apollo program schedule included a three-stage Saturn C-1 unmanned CSM orbital flight in February 1964. NASA announced the redesign of the Saturn C-1 as a two-stage launch vehicle on 1 June 1961.
